Give your subscriptions a quick checkup

A small list can make recurring spending easier to understand.

Put them in one place

Look through your recent statements, app-store subscriptions, and renewal emails. Write down the service, amount, billing frequency, and next renewal date. Include annual plans as well as monthly ones.

Give each one a job

Next to each service, write what you actually use it for. Two subscriptions may be doing the same job. Or an annual plan may have made sense for a project you’ve finished.

Choose: keep, review, or cancel

Keep the things that are useful to you now. Put uncertain ones on a review list. Before cancelling anything essential, consider what you would lose and whether someone else in your household relies on it.

Check the exit details

Read how and when to cancel, whether service continues through the paid period, and whether a refund is available. Save the confirmation and check your next statement. Free trials may turn into paid subscriptions unless you cancel in time.

Make the next review easier

Add a reminder before annual renewals. Keep the list somewhere simple, like a note on your phone. No new subscription required.
